Now that our Summer Nav series has finished for the year we have opened up all of the events on MapRun until 7th May 2022 so you can now head out and do any that you missed, or have another go at the ones you really enjoyed.
MapRun is a free smartphone app, developed by an Orienteer in Australia, that uses your phones GPS to determine your location on the course. You simply download the course information into the app on your phone, print off the map, then head out to run (or ride) around the course. MapRun tracks and times your effort (like Strava) but also lets out a ‘PING’ when you get within 15m of each control so you know when you have found each one. This means the course is open 24/7 with no need for physical control flags.
So grab your running shoes and maybe a friend and head out to have some fun!
We would like to encourage a small $5 koha for anyone completing a MapRun course. You can pay this directly into the Orienteering Bay of Plenty bank account – 03 1552 0094951 00. Please put your SURNAME, SUMMERNAV, MAPRUN in the three reference fields so we know what its for.
