Competition Status
- The Sprint and Long distance events have been conferred A-grade status by the ONZ Technical Committee.
- Tūāraki Championship titles will be conferred to winners of the Long and Sprint distance events.
- Whilst the Middle distance event was originally conferred A grade status, this has been withdrawn because of the decision to use a chasing start format and combined results of Sprint and Middle for this event.
- Winners of the Middle distance, and winners of the combined Middle and Sprint distance (where same grade is run) will be recognised for fastest time for those events, but these are not Tūāraki Championship titles.
Classes
Competitors are divided into classes according to their gender and age, and any gender may compete in Men’s classes:
- Class eligibility is determined by the participant’s age on 31 December 2025.
- Competitors aged 20 or younger are classed as Juniors (or Child if 12 and under), and are eligible to run in each class up to the end of the calendar year in which they reach the given age. They are entitled to compete in older classes up to and including 21, and cannot compete in younger grades than what they are eligible for.
- Competitors aged 21 or older are classed as Seniors, and eligible to run in each class from the beginning of the calendar year in which they reach the designated age. They are entitled to compete in younger classes down to and including 21, and cannot compete in older grades than what they are eligible for.
