 AN EXCITING TEAM NAVIGATION ADVENTURE FOR BUDDING ADVENTURERS

This years theme - Animal Kingdom

Event Instructions HERE

  • Find as many checkpoints as you can in 2 hours. Complete fun animal themed mystery activities for bonus points.
  • Suitable for families with kids (including the littlies under 5 years old) through to Olympic cyclists.
  • All you need is a bike and a team of 2-5 people.
  • Optional 'Animal Kingdom' dress-up competition with great prizes.
  • We will provide a specially prepared map and instructions, you plan a route for your team and ... you will be off on a forest adventure like no other!

  • EVENT HEADQUARTERS (Registration, Start and Finish) = Main Waipa MTB Car Park, Waipa State Mill Road.

TIMETABLE - SUNDAY 6th NOVEMBER 2022
  • Registration from 8.30am,
  • Maps from 8:30am
  • Start - 9.00am - 10:00am (punch start to record your start time).
  • Finish - You must finish within 2 hours of your start time.  Competitors can finish earlier.  There will be penalties if you are late.  
  • Course closes at 12:00pm
  • All category and fancy dress competition results and spot prize winners will be posted online by email to competitors, on the OBOP Facebook page and on the OBOP website.

​EQUIPMENT REQUIRED
  • Bike, helmet and suitable clothing.
  • Water and food for race as appropriate.​​

EVENT CATEGORIES
  • Open - Any teams not competing in one of following categories.
  • Student - All competitors students at secondary, intermediate or primary school.
  • Mixed Age Pedal Power - Different ages with at least one team member 12 years or under riding their own bike independently.

​Note the "Mixed Age Pedal Power" category is targeted at Family groups.  

Teams can be made up of competitors from different Families but t
o be eligible for the category there must be in the team at least one team member 12 years or under riding their own bike independently and there must be at least one adult 18 and over.

FANCY DRESS COMPETITION
  • There will be an optional fancy dress competition with a prize for the best dressed individual and team.
  • Prizewinners will be announced when we send out the results.

  • Online entries close Wednesday 2nd November at midnight.
  • ​After the close off of entries we will only take on-the-day entries and an on-the-day entry fee will be charged per competitor.  There will only be a limited number of on-the-day entries (capped at 100).  WE REALLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO PRE-ENTER AND TO REINFORCE THIS HAVE INCREASED THE ON-THE-DAY ENTRY FEE.
  • ​All entry fees are per person.
  • We will be using SPORTident, an electronic timing system, which will produce results immediately after the event. To use the system you need a SPORTident Card or dibber, which you use to register when you visit a control.  Your entry fee includes hireage of the dibber.

POSTPONEMENT / CANCELLATION INFORMATION
  • The event will go ahead even if it is raining and is unlikely to b​​e postponed or cancelled simply due to less than ideal weather.
  • However, in the case a significant Covid19 development, extreme bad weather, or some other serious adverse event, any postponement or cancellation and relevant information, will be communicated to all pre-entered competitors via e-mail, and on the Orienteering Bay of Plenty website and Facebook page.  Any decision to postpone or cancel event will be made and communicated out by 7.30am on the day of the event.
